“The former Artistic Director and current Artistic Director Emeritus of the Pasadena Playhouse, Sheldon Epps, has engaged in inappropriate conduct towards many young female employees at the Pasadena Playhouse over the years. I witnessed him firsthand tell a 25 year old female (he is in his 60’s) that she has a nice dress on and proceed to run his finger down her shoulder strap. She was 100% uncomfortable with the advance. 3 other female employees spoke to me of unwanted attention and complements from Mr. Epps. One of them told me he kissed her on the forehead on her last day working at the Playhouse. As Artistic Director, he made many young females working in administration at the Playhouse uncomfortable with deliberate and seductive stares (when they were wearing skirts or dresses that showed skin). Several employees went to the former finance director at the Playhouse years ago with the complaints (there is no formal HR at the Playhouse) and the general manager. They said they would speak to Sheldon about his inappropriate behavior. I believe they did, because his behavior is said to have changed after this, and he would avoid the young women. There’s no telling how many young women were made to feel uncomfortable by Sheldon Epps during his time as Artistic Director at the Pasadena Playhouse.”
